Virtual Production | In Camera VFX | UE4 Development

Started developing some UE4 nDisplay volume stuff. This is really amazing and where its heading will change the VFX industry.

It started with a standard monitor to get the thing working. The main driving force was the lazy Susan idea where you could rotate the stage to avoid needing screens all around you.

Next we went to the poor man’s version of LED panels AKA back projection.

Rotating platform that gives the impression of a 360 camera moving around them.
This is an example of using a tracker to project light into the scene as if it were a flashlight.
Wall into the game engine.
Lazy Susan!

Human Rights Watch

This was a live augmented overlay that used the Facebook AR (Now Spark) platform.  You can see a video of me demoing it on my daughter.

It was to accompany the real installation for the same campaign.

“The Human Family is an eye-catching
public installation that invites people to
engage with human rights in a surprising and beautiful way.”

The Human Family will debut with two
simultaneous placements — one at UCLA in Los Angeles and the other at Friendship Park in Tijuana.
